• Curiosity.  Our lab is motivated by the desire to understand how the molecular machines that drive biological processes function, and by the desire to develop revealing new approaches to study these machines.
• Creativity.  We enjoy coming up with new kinds of explanations for biophysical and biochemical phenomena.
• Opportunity.  We aim to promulgate a lab culture that provides the opportunity to learn about and do scientific research to individuals from different backgrounds and with different social, cultural, and intellectual perspectives.
• Clarity.  We place a premium on effectively communicating the results of our work to both scientists and laypeople.
• Integrity.  Honesty is essential to the conduct of scientific research and we strive not to mislead others by either commission or omission.
